Loy Krathong in Chiang Mai

November is almost upon us again and it’s time for the Thai festival of light, Loy Krathong.  Held every year on the full moon of the 12th Lunar month, the krathong (“raft”) is decorated with flowers and candles before being set afloat in rivers. The festival pays tribute to the Water Goddess and gives the Thai people an opportunity to “float away” bad luck and bring in the good luck for the coming year.

From 1 to 3 November, The Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi in Chiang Mai is offering a three-day package in the stunning Lanna setting.

Priced at THB23,900 (+18.5% service charge and taxes), the package includes two nights in a Colonial Suite, daily buffet breakfast for two, round-trip airport limo transfers, an 80-minute spa therapy for two, and
Kad Mua a northern Thai market style cocktail and buffet dinner on 2 November at the Colonial Lawn for two persons, inclusive of khom loy (traditional hot air balloons) and banana leaf krathong which guests can float on the adjacent lotus pond.
